Guns found on slain Naqeeb, others belong to Anwar’s team, ATC told

The administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts was submitted on Tuesday documents related to another case registered against former Malir senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rao Anwar and several other cops over charges of murdering Naqeebullah Mehsood and three other men in a fake encounter after implicating them in false cases.

The judge was informed by the investigation officer (IO) that Anwar, former station house officer Amanullah Marwat of the Shah Latif Town police station and suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Qamar Ahmed have been nominated n the case for allegedly registering false cases of possession of illegal arms and explosive material against the four men.

The IO further said the arms shown to have been seized from the possession of the four men, who were shot dead in a fake encounter in Malir’s Latif Town on January 13, were actually owned by the accused police officers instead.

The FIR over the registration of false cases was lodged against Anwar, Marwat and Ahmed by SSP Abid Qaimkhani. The ATC conducting the trial of Mehsud and three other men’s murders has issued two non-bailable warrants for the arrest of the accused.

The interim charge sheet submitted to the court recently said a team of the cops led by Anwar had become an approver, who alleged that Anwar’s team had killed the four citizens for only one million rupees.

The court has issued non-bailable warrants the arrest of 15 absconding accused, including Anwar, Marwat, Anar Khan and Shoaib Shaikh alias Shooter. Eleven accused, including DSP Qamar Ahmed, Sub Inspector (SI) Yaseen, Assistant Sub inspector (ASI) Allah Yar, ASI Saparud Hussain, Head Constable Iqbal and Constables Khizar Hayyat and Arshad Ali are in detention.
