Notices to govt, others in Saaf Pani Company case

LAHORE: Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court issued notices to the Punjab government and other respondents on an application seeking directions for National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation into irregularities and corruption in Punjab Saaf Pani Company.
Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique moved this application in already pending petition in which he had challenged establishment of Punjab Saaf Pani Company as well as 55 other public companies and appointment of some members of Punjab Assembly as heads. The applicant said there was corruption case of Rs80 million in Punjab Saaf Paani project and the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) was entrusted the investigation. He alleged that impartial investigation could not be expected from ACE and real culprits could escape. He said the officials involved in looting the national wealth should not escape.
