Public, private education sector liaison stressed

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said the Punjab government is striving for education, training and character building of youths so that Pakistan could get best leadership in different sectors.
The minister expressed these views while addressing a prize-distribution ceremony of a group of private institutions here in Alhamra Hall on Thursday. The function was attended by talented students, faculty members and a large number of people related to the education sector.
The minister in his address said it is mandatory to have cooperation between public and private sector institutions for a better educated nation. The minister said higher education department is supporting the students through several programmes like laptop distribution, scholarship awards and co-curricular activities. He said that keeping in view the significance of highly qualified faculty, we have established a teacher training academy. He said thousands of lecturers and assistant professors are appointed this year all over Punjab.
Syed Raza Ali Gillani said a comprehensive higher education policy is being finalised to ensure that Pakistani universities could be developed on a par with international standard institutions of research and innovation where quality education could help the students to excel. In the first phase, it is my mission to bring five top public sector universities of the Punjab in the QS Ranking and the government is committed to provide equal opportunities of getting high quality education to youths. He said that research and higher education are the basic components of development as the developed world has achieved pinnacles of glory in the comity of the nations with their high-quality system of higher education which is the agent of change and accelerated development.

is quite satisfying that Pakistani youth is able, dedicated and has many potentials. The intellectual ken of the youth can be further developed by providing them different opportunities of quality education and research. It is satisfying that the Punjab government has provided the necessary platform through different reforms to youths to develop themselves as leaders in their respective fields.
He said that Pakistani youth is known for its hard work and talent and on the basis of pool of talented youths Pakistan can achieve a respectable position in the comity of the nations.
The minister congratulated the teachers and parents of the students for their students’ positions. He said Pakistan is our pride and we have to strive for achieving the best results for the nation. Earlier, the minister distributed millions of rupees’ cash prizes among the position-holders of the institute.
