Govt followed laws in Pemra chairman’s appointment, court told

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) will resume hearing into the petition today (Thursday) which challenged appointment of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman.
An IHC single member bench of Justice Aamir Farooq Wednesday conducted hearing into petitions filed regarding appointment of Absar Aalam as Pemra chairman. During the hearing, Pemra lawyer Ali Gilani advocate continuing his arguments presented educational record of Pemar Chairman.
Absar Aalam has done graduation from Punjab University and diploma in journalism. Pemra lawyer continuing his arguments prayed the court a case of same nature was under hearing in Lahore High Court.
He said federal government has followed the law and also orders of the Supreme Court so that petition must be dismissed. He further said that Intelligence Bureau and Special Branch have also issued clearance certificate regarding educational certificates of the Pemra chairman. Later, the court adjourned the hearing till today (Thursday).
