Narcotics seized at Torkham border

LANDIKOTAL: Khassadar personnel foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of hashish and heroin and arrested the peddler, officials said on Wednesday.
Political Tehsildar Landikotal Shamsul Islam, while briefing the media, said that during routine checking, they recovered 231kg hashish and 13kg heroin from a truck (KBL-633) coming from Afghanistan.
He said the narcotics had been concealed in auto tyres loaded in the truck. An Afghan national, Saydal Jan, resident of Nangarhar, was arrested and sent to Landikotal lockup for investigation.
Assistant Political Agent Niaz Muhammad and Tehsildar Shamsul Islam said that Khassadar personnel Shah Wali recovered the narcotics and they have recommended cash prize for Wali, who had earlier seized 500kg narcotics at Torkham border a month ago.
