Asim ton steers Pakistan Veterans to win

KARACHI: Asim Jah struck a brilliant 100-run knock off only 71 balls to help Pakistan Veterans beat Sri Lankan Veterans by 38 runs at P Sara Oval Cricket Ground in Colombo on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Pakistan Veterans posted 269 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 35 overs.Asim and Dastageer Butt shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 134 runs. Dastageer scored 85 runs off 70 balls. Amir Ilyas Butt made 27 off 24 balls. Shen Fernando took two wickets for 28 runs for the Sri Lankan side.
Sri Lankan Veterans made a solid start to their innings as they were only one down for 138 runs. But then skipper Fawad Ijaz Khan got rid of their two in-form batsmen Fernando (90) and Chandana Mahesh (34).
The hosts could only manage to score 231 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Fawad took three wickets for 59 runs in his seven-over spell. Zafar Ali took two wickets for 38 runs, while Imtiaz Tarar and Nadeem Omar claimed one wicket each for 24 and 47 runs respectively.Asim was named the Man of the Match.
