Political unity must to hold polls on time: Fazl

TANK: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday said that unity of political parties was a must to hold timely and transparent election.
Talking to reporters here, he said his party wanted timely election, but urged unity among the political forces for this purpose. “The election should neither be held ahead of time nor should it be delayed,” he maintained. The JUI-F chief said that the delimitation issue was yet to be resolved, adding that a constitutional amendment was required for resolving the issue.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said none of the religious parties had opposed the revival of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA). He said Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami was part of the MMA, adding that elements working on the foreign agenda were against the unity of religious parties.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that JUI-S was taking part regularly in the meetings being held for the revival of MMA. He said that an important decision on the revival would be taken at a meeting in Lahore on December 8. He hinted at making seat adjustment with other political parties for ensuring victory in the next general election.
