Loadshedding still prevails in KP, says Babak

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak has criticised the government for hours-long power and gas loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Through a statement issued here on Tuesday, the ANP leader said that the federal government had declared 5000 feeders loadshedding free. However, he lamented that not a single feeder in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been exempted from loadshedding.
The ANP leader added out of the 4,971 feeders, 4,344 feeders in Punjab, 204 feeders in Sindh and 12 in Balochistan while none in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were exempted.
He said that 18th constitutional amendment had ensured rights of provinces over their resources, but the policy makers in Punjab were denying that rights to smaller units.
The ANP leader said that gas supply to domestic consumers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was stopped with the arrival of winter. This discrimination was creating a sense of alienation in the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said.
He asked the government to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and minimise the loadshedding duration.
