Oil company officials, Levies men kidnapped

DERA ISMIL KHAN: At least seven people including four officials of a multinational oil company were kidnapped from a site in the Frontier Region Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.

According to local sources, three Levies personnel responsible for their security were also among the abducted people.

The officials of the multinational company were conducting a survey in Frontier Region Dera Ismail Khan when they erroneously entered a prohibited area close to the boundary with South Waziristan Agency.

The sources added that the three personal of Levies and officials were driven at gun-point by unidentified armed men to an undisclosed location after being abducted from the Kurram Nala area.

An official of the political administration was quoted as saying that the kidnapping took place near the boundary between Frontier Region Dera Ismail Khan and South Waziristan. He said the kidnappers also took away four vehicles.

This correspondent attempted to contact authorities concerned to authenticate the incident, but failed. He said the political administration has started efforts for the recovery of the abducted workers and Levies personnel.
